Why did I become a Counsellor?

If I'm honest with myself it started when I was 7 and my Nanna passed away. For years, well into adulthood, I spent huge amounts of time trying to understand who people are and why they do the things they do. What makes a person so nurturing and kind? Why would someone make a particular decision? What happens in childhood to lead a person to be a certain way?

This passion for understanding followed me throughout each job I've ever had; artist, photographer, receptionist, sales person. It didn't matter what the job was; human beings were always at the centre of my mind, and building connection was always my greatest natural skill.
Now that I know all about human behaviour and mental wellbeing, my passion is focused on helping you live your most authentic life! Research shows the most significant factor in reaching counselling goals is the therapeutic relationship you and I develop. I hope to create a compassionate and understanding environment in which you can feel safe speaking to me about about things that are very private, personal and often times extremely vulnerable.
'Floraison' is French for 'bloom'
I started Floraison Mental Health in 2020, right at the beginning of a global pandemic. The world was full of uncertainty; it was a scary time for all of us, and I knew that if I was struggling to find my place in it all then so were other people.

When considering a name for my business, I wanted to incorporate my love of nature and plants with my passion for people; and this is when I landed on 'Floraison'.

I hope to be part of the journey for my clients, who continue to bloom and grow every day.

Acknowledgement of Country
Floraison Mental Health acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community. We would like to acknowledge the Peramangk people of the Adelaide Hills where we conduct our business, and pay our respects to the elders past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.
